Hello, my name is Ian, but you can call me spatcher.
In 2015, my local public safety system switched to P25 on the radio system, which caused the need for me to retire my 1999 RadioShack Pro 28.
For several months, the system was half and half, meaning some portions were still on analog, while others were p25.
In 2016, when the FD pagers switched to P25, I suddenly was no longer able to hear most tone outs, but could still hear the trucks reporting to HQ that they are en route, as well as HQ speaking the time, and any other info, if needed.
While I can still occasionally hear FD only tone outs, such as gas leaks, or fire alarm soundings, I am no longer able to hear HQ tone out for the 7 AM test, only the trucks reporting their radios reception quality, and also cannot hear medical tone outs.
I have in fact tried programming all of the talkgroup IDS, updated in 2016, here on the frequency site, into the unit with no luck.
I also spoke with my EMA director, who in turn spoke with several officials, who advised her to me that they can not figure out what could be wrong.
I am truly hoping it is not an issue with the unit itself, as I simply can not afford a new unit.
And I also can confirm that the pagers have not been switched to full encryption such as TETRA.
