Hello,

How do you select a bank on the radio to listen exclusively when scanning ? where the others aren't scanning

Thanks

Technically, you have Systems, not Banks, but...

Assign each system a System Quick Key, then you can enable and disable them easily - just like you could with banks on lower models.

Someone directed me to a page that really made sense of the new memory structure. If you do a google search on "Uniden BCD996P2 — A Very Oversimplified Explanation Of Its Operation" you'll find it.

Basically, the old scanners had something like 10 banks and each had 10 scanlists for trunk system IDs. You can throw that idea away. There's no longer a limitation like that. You can arrange your memory with much greater flexibility nowadays. You just have to get past the learning curve (retraining yourself to think about the new way). I suggest reading the aforementioned... and anything else you can find on the subject.

Overall, very nicely written up. There are some glaring errors on that page, though. For example: "With the BCD996P2, you can choose to put both counties' trunked services into one System" (to scan multiple trunk systems).

Doing that will result in NOT SCANNING one of the two systems, as only one control channel will be evaluated (the first one the scanner hears).

Why someone would ever try to program two systems as one is beyond reason. Just program them as they are - two separate systems. Then each will be scanned.

I agree... it's not perfect, but if you can put aside the errors and just wrap your head around the new way of doing things, it's not too bad.
