Is it worth me buying a BCD325P2? I'm 20 miles from Greeley like to pick up things from Weld County & Boulder County. I live in Larimer County. I would like to buy a better antenna not use the one that comes with it. Is there anyone in the area that can program it for me that knows how?

BCD325P2 would not fare well with the 800 simulcast sites which carries everything in the county and Greeley. The Southwest 700 simulcast sites which primarily cover the Southern part of the county would also have issues.

It has been well noted that the 325P2 scanner will discharge batteries at a rapid rate from chatter in the Uniden sub forum.

Uniden SDS series scanners will work with the simulcast sites however you are looking at spending $650 to $700+ with the going rate.

If you can afford the cost a Uniden SDS200 desktop model at around $699 would be a good fit.

i hate telling anyong to spend money, let alone more.
the wife liked to listen to our counties sheriff.
but they went to a 700Mhz simulcast system and the 396T and XT sounded horrible. lots of dropouts.
we knew that the 325P2 might not work, but she wanted a new radio when out and around.
the 325 works fine when out but not at the house. so we bought the SDS100.
life is good. no dropouts anywhere. so the 325 is mine and the 100 is hers.
i am retired and the 100 is home all day long anyway. it is on now.
the 325 is our going out radio, but even today she had the 100 in her purse.
of course my line is that you can't have too many radios.

Unfortunately the county where Spirit lives all L.E. is encrypted. The scanners he has works for Boulder County which is dual analog VHF and P25 700/800, Colorado state patrol and Larimer county fire departments on the state DTRS system which is Phase I.

The Adams/Weld county FRCC system is Phase II simulcast. Only 2 Adams countyL.E. agencies are in the clear and likely to go ENC in the near future as that has been the trend this year. Weld L.E. is currently in the clear however the county, Greeley and Evans have ENC tactical talkgroups and could easily flip the switch on dispatch groups at any time.

An option for Spirit: Weld is streamed on Broadcastify.

The Eastern front range of Colorado has become hostile to the scanning community and the local media in the past 6 years.
