On Trunk Systems it is only displaying the TGID on the left side of the third line up from the bottom. The BCD996T shows the freq on the left and the TGID on the right. UPMAN, how about a FIX for the first update??

No fix needed...that is the way it is supposed to be...
from the complete 396xt guide (which I recommend reading over):

For trunked systems:

In Display Mode 1, the scanner displays the TGID name on the second line and the V-Ch frequency under
the second line.

In Display mode 2, the scanner displays the TGID name on the second line and TGID under the second
line.

In Display mode 3, the scanner displays the TGID name on the second line and trunking activity indicators
under the second line.

To further clarify the 3 different display modes:

Again from the Complete 396xt Reference Guide:

Having display mode 2 is a wonderful addition, but I'd love to hear why both freq and talkgroup could not have been included....only thing I can think of is a display size restriction? But, is that even relevant given that a PL tone can be 5 characters in length as well (i.e. 127.3). It would be nice to have both as we get with the 996T, but just having the different modes is a major plus.

And NACxxx is six charactors. I like both modes 2 and 3. Got the activity indicators back to the active display.

If you have yet to catch an iCall, that display has improved also.

You think Uniden would have learned from the 330/396 deficiency of not being able to display the alpha tag and frequency at the same time, for conventional channels. This still irks me.

You can. Display Mode 2 shows the frequency and CTCSS/DCS/NAC in the 3rd line.

The above example I gave was for Trunked systems...on conventional channels you do have exactly what you are looking for...again from the BCD396xt Complete Reference Guide this is the 3 display modes for conventional:

Just my 2 cents .. but why would you want to show the frequency on a trunked system ? To me that is the least important information and I would like to see a mode like on the 780 where you can have a screen mask and really only show important information. But thats just my opinion. I would think that the talkgroup tag and even a radio id tag (still waiting for Uniden to add this feature to their scanners) would be more useful.

But i do like the different display colors .. good job Uniden. :D

The only weird thing ... is who the *** decided on the model number ? Uniden shouldn't have made the new model so closely named as the old model. Back to marketing school Uniden I think.

I have my scanner set to show the trunk activity screen. It looks like it works fine on my local EDACS and LTR systems, but on a P25 system it only shows the control channel. It will not show other activity. I have all the trunk frequencies programmed in. Is there another step I'm missing?

No, because the Standard P25 System setting only uses the control channel only method of tracking.

Here's a question.
Display mode 1 on a trunked system shows voice channel frequency, mode 2 shows talkgroup ID.
Display mode 1 on a conventional system shows...some stuff (PL tone and mode I think?), but mode 2 shows frequency.

Is there a way you can set mode 1 for all trunked systems, but mode 2 for all conventional systems? It would be nice to be able to see frequency for both types of systems...so it seems odd to me Uniden would do it this way. Like, mode 1 should always show frequency, whether it's conv. or trunked, or something like that.
