I just picked up a BCD396XT used scanner in great condition.
I loaded my files into it and seems to work well.
My question is on the state police on the screen is by ID XXXXX
I see on the Ma State page here all is listed by this, is there a cross reference chart from the ID xxxxx to a frequency and the location of the ID xxxxx

ID XXXXX= Frequency or ID XXXXX= location

thanks

If I'm understanding your question, depending on where the "ID xxxxx" shows up, it could be one of two things.

If it is in the middle of the display it could be TalkGroup ID Number. Refer to Commonwealth Of Massachusetts Trunking System, Statewide, Massachusetts - Scanner Frequencies and see whether the corresponding number is in the DEC column (Talkgroup ID numbers). Then read across to determine more information about that talkgroup.

If the number appears toward the bottom left of the display it could be the Radio/Unit Identification Number of the transmitting radio. Each radio is programmed with a bunch of numbers, "sort of like" a cell phone having an ESN, Phone Number, etc. That ID number is "sort of like" the cell phone telephone number. Generally the purpose of these Radio/Unit Identification numbers is so listeners will know who is talking (presuming they have a way of translating such numbers).

That said, in the case of Radio/Unit ID numbers, the number is preceded by a "U", which you didn't mention.

You first need to make a Group(s) with all the TGIDs you want, you could do this in freescan with a premium subscription and change which import type each little list are. Right now it looks like you are just ID searching.
You will have to change the TGID Name under the System and Group it is in, to the preferred name of that TGID, while the HEX will stay the same, the while name will be what you make it up-to 16 characters: SouDispatch A4A5 for TGID 33200.

No. . . That's pretty much what we are all up against. We see a Talkgroup ID number show up and some research is needed to determine What/Who the talkgroup is associated with. Alpha Tags or any other descriptive information is not included in the "data stream".

Sometimes there are TGIDs that show up when ID Searching. If users do not report them to the RRDB, it is challenging to determine the use of the talkgroup.
