Is there a way that does allow the scanner from only drawing from master db? I tried to load just my zip in. It loads 50 miles away. Are they regional db I can load from? It also loads things that I don't want an says its from master list. I'm completely lost. Thank you for any help. Bobm

Questions and answers to your post...
Have you loaded the sentinel software on your computer and if so have done the database updates to the scanner to make sure you have the newest information in the scanner for your area?

In the menu under set your location you can set the range in miles. You can try changing it from 30 miles to 5 or 10 to see if you can narrow down what you want to hear. You can also select service types to again narrow down or widen the services you want to listen to.

Once you have the scanner up to date with the newest information for your area, have the range set to the smaller area and the service types you want try programming by zip code again to see how the scanner works for you.

Another option would be to use Sentinel to create a Favorites List which contains only those things you are interested in scanning.

About the only time I'll use the full database is when I'm traveling. Otherwise it's Favorites Lists only.

Even that may still load systems 50 miles away if their service radius is set to more than 40 or 45 miles. Many systems are (incorrectly) set way higher than their actual service area.

How do you create a favorites list using Sentinel Program in computer?

Thanks, I'll give it a try as I'm having problems with reading text. (eyesight getting worse)

Minor correction. I gave you the answer for the EDIT Favorites List.

On the x36 Sentinel, the icon for New FL is a star over a sheet of paper, It's the icon on the extreme left side right above the list of Favorites Lists.

Alternately, you can click CTRL-2 and that will bring up the EDIT FL window. At the bottom left of that window is a button that says NEW FAVORITES LIST that might be easier for you to see. Click that button and you will have created the new FL.

Pencil/paper is edit profile. To make a FL, start with pen/star icon. See the video link I posted above.

If you have the scanner right next to your computer and watch UPMan's you tube video's....you can program it right along with the video....If I did it so can you!!! One suggestion is number your lists and create a multiple favorite lists
POLICE (1)
FIRE. (2)
EMS. (3)

It helps in the long run.
