I live in SC and have been unable to get my BCD436HP to work. My scanner is not picking up any channel as it stays in "id scanning" for whatever system is scans. I have updated it on my computer through Sentinel. I vacationed in Louisiana recently and it picked up fine there. Any suggestions?

Are you using the Full Database or just Favorite lists? And did you change the GPS coordinates by chance? If using location control, You may need to reset your location.

I entered my zip code with ranges of 20 -50 miles and the scanner does not stop on any channel

Always make sure all your services are turned on. By default they arent. So if the db sees a PD dispatch talkgroup but yet you dont have PD Dispatch active...it will just skip over that conversation...

What systems are you trying to scan?

Systems within 20-50 miles of my zip code. My scanner will not stop on any system and when I hold a system that I should be able to pick up the "id scanning" never stops

If you are using the stock antenna 20-50 miles is a stretch. Just because they are in the scanner does not mean you can receive them. Might want to knock the range down to 10-15 miles.

Can you recommend a better antenna. I'm thinking the stock antenna may be the problem. I will reduce range and see what happens

As kd2pm stated make sure your service types are turned on. Go to menu, then to select service types and then make sure they are all turned on.
