I have a few questions about the Avoid feature.

1 - Exactly what does an Avoid do? Will the scanner just skip the items, i.e. not check the channel or
frequency, flagged to Avoid when scanning?

2 - If I set several permanent Avoids and then later do the clear all Avoids operation by holding down the
Avoid button will the permanent Avoids also be cleared?

3 - If I set an Avoid at the Department level will all the Channels under that Department also be
Avoided while scanning? Also if I were to set an Avoid at the System level will all the Sites, Departments
and Channels under that site be Avoided?

Temporary Avoids are to be used with Power Cycling by disconnecting total power either via USB Power or Battery Power

Two types of Avoid conditions, Temporary and Permanent.

Temporary Avoid (one press of the Avoid button) applies to the current scanning session. When the scanner is powered down as described above as well as being tunred off "normally" Temporary Avoids are released. The next time the scanner is turned on, the "stuff" temporarily avoided is back to being scanned.

Permanent Avoids (double press of the Avoid button) is a long term avoid condition. The "stuff" you avoided stays avoided until you change the avoid setting via programming or as described above for clearing all avoids.

How does that differ from disabling a quick key?

The end result is the same, just another way of getting there.

Avoids deal with one "thing" (System/Department/Site/Chanel) at a time. Quick Keys deal with groups of "things" at a time. Favorites List Quick Key and all of its contents, a System Quick Key with all its sites/departments and channels or a Department Quick Key with all channels in that department.

I prefer to turn things on and off using Quick Keys as that seems more efficient to me. I typically use the Avoid button to silence a nuisance channel.

Quick Keys are more easily re-enabled than (permanent) Avoids
