BCD436HP/BCD536HP: BCD536 Display Question

I set my 536 to discover the PL tone being used on a conventional channel. I’m trying to figure out how to set the display (2 line / 3 line) to display the tone used and / or discovered.

Done that, but no tone shows up, on any channel

You're sure said channels aren't CSQ? Tone will normally flash where shown below once detected or will remain solid if you added said channel to a FL and set the tone

You know John I retired my x36s a while ago, so I just can't look.. now I'm remembering three line display was like a simple display as opposed to a detailed display.

Press te FUNCTION knob
Press 9
The display shows DIRECT ENTRY with a 9 displayed

Press the CHANNEL button to hold on a frequency or talkgroup before doing the FUNCTION and then 9..

I have paused it take a look at what I posted. First step was the pause scanning on a conventional channel.

I'm also on latest FW as of this post (1.28.24)

You can also do it via Sentinel: EDIT > EDIT PROFILE > DISPLAY OPTIONS (tab)
3 Line Mode: OFF

Write change to scanner

How long after pressing FUNCTION are you pressing the 9 button? FUNCTION is only active for about 2 seconds after pressing it.

Interestingly it doesn't work for me either. Every other F+x feature seems to work just fine (ATT, IFX, Weather, SRCH). Weird. Is it dependent on some other setting? I am going through ProScan by the way, haven't tried it locally yet.

Very interesting at least I know I’m not going crazy. I’m going to try making the change using the Sentinel software.

Works for me, Proscan and locally. Difference with Proscan is you need to double click the knob for Function. Locally you just press it once

Correct, double click the knob, "F" shows in the upper left corner, press "9" and I get the error boop.

Interestingly it doesn't work for me either.

How old is your scanner. I have four 536's. One is in the 3800 series and the other 3 are in the 4800 series. All have had the clock battery and the dim display LED repair. The one in the 3800 series also had the distorted headphone audio repair. All four have the 1.28.24 firmware and I have no problem switching the display on any of them. A hardware change could possibly be causing the problem. I do not use the WiFi dongle.
