Does anybody knows exactly what are the preprogrammed frequencies for the State of "Quebec" for this function on the BCT15 ?

Thanks for your assistance,

The best for the holiday season and a wonderful new year !!!

Are you sure it does Quebec?

This would probably be the first scanner to include an area outside of the United States if it does.

Hi mike

Well certainly not sure if it DOES Quebec, but like "69stiles" said all provinces are there on the display.

I think VE2ZPS has a picture of the display to post later ...

Quebec (as well as the other Canadian provinces) are in the "State Selection Menu" for the BT function.
(otherwise I would have never raised this question - please see picture)
http://www.ve2zps.com/bct15.html

I have read somewhere that these preprogrammed frequencies cannot be changed of modified.
(but this info might be from an unreliable source; it has not been confirmed)

Therefore, since Uniden did incorporate Quebec as a possible selection for BearTracker purposes:
- If there is no actual frequency preprogrammed, it wouldn't make any sense;
Consequently, someone somewhere must know exactly what they have preprogrammed for the Canadian Provinces.

What happens if you just open the squelch up to simulate a signal?

If they aren't using CTCSS, I think it would show something indicating what it found?

If I had this rig I would try

try pushing :
function
prog system,
1st system should show in there
scroll to target ie; Quebec
scroll to set frequencies
hit E
should show freq's
(this is based on 396) can't imagine it is too different on your rig ?

Thanks - If I would have one, I would have tried this also ... (I only have the 396 & 996)

I thought maybe someone here would know since I really wonder what could have been programmed that could potentially be operational here in Quebec. (considering the high level of frequency diversity of the public services covered by this function)

Thanks again - I will ask someone to try this

I would hazard a guess that the SQ UHF vehicular repeaters 454.475/.550/.625
would be in there.

Now that we know it covers "states" of Canada, I wonder what's in there
for Ontario; OPP VRs likely.

The 2 suggested methods have produced no result (as expected).
They definately didn't program any form of tone (CTCSS) especially since my understanding is to the effect that this function monitors the repeater's Rx frequency of these services (Tx of a vehicle nearby). This makes me even more sceptic as to what could have been preprogrammed in this machine for Quebec.

Thank you very much for your answers - My conclusion: this is only a non-operational gadget (in Quebec) anyway.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THE BEST FOR 2009 !!!

By the way, I read your comments on Infoscan.

Regards, Dave

Is this a good or a bad thing ? HaHaHa
In fact I did notice your presence recently.
We'll have someone here in Quebec with a BCT15 that will identify the said frequencies.

If these are in fact the Repeaters's Rx frequencies, I don't have a clue how they could have preprogrammed them for the QPP or MTQ for example (considering their extremely odd offset)

This "Ontario Boy" (Pro) with nearly 1700 posts and the grand title
of "Member" wonders if it's such a great idea to cross-post our responses
(or parts of) with commentary which is well, not complimentary.

Clearly you didn't get the answer you were looking for, and that's
how it goes. I recall asking a similar question more than once, in more
than one place, and never getting a solid answer. You would have
thought that nobody had seen/heard of the radio in question.

Hopefully someone in Quebec will get a BCT15 and figure this out,
because apparently even Youppi-Man :) :) doesn't have the answer.
(I'm sure Paul would find this reference funny).

Dave

P.S. Puzzled by your reference to QPP; I thought only the english press
called them that!

As you have probably read also, I came here with that question not for me but to try to assist one of our member (I must admit that I was also curious however). As mentionned previously I don't have a BCT15 but only the BCD396T and BCD996T.

The majority of Infoscan's members know me fairly well for my assistance but also for my writing style and for my sense of humor which is, I must admit, sometime slightly special, especially for someone unfamiliar with it BUT there is NEVER any form of bad intentions from my part.

I see that you have not been on that Forum very often otherwise you would have definately understood exactly the context and circumstances.
The allusion to Youppie (in this case) was simply a " jeu de mots " which I assume you are familiar with its origin here in Montreal.

In any case, if I did offend anyone, I sincerely apologize (and this is very serious and important for me).

Once again my sincere apologies if I did offend anyone
(there was no bad intentions at all but I do take full responsibility for my actions and I am acting accordingly with this note)

Sincerely,

All I can say is, don't spend too much time thinking about it.
Offended, nah! Just a bit puzzled at some element of mocking.
Time to move ahead, will certainly read Infoscan from time to
time but my command of french is not great so I post very
rarely (one time).

The reference to Youppi is quite funny, and I can't speak for
Paul but hope that this title would be considered an honour :)

Back on the topic: you may have seen this thread, if not it
might be useful:

Now back off topic... just wondering if anyone has heard where we
could find Nez-Rouge in the Outaouais/Ottawa this year; have not heard
them on C&W system "1fdd". Maybe should ask on Infoscan.

Guys, guys, guys ! :p

Happy you understand each other because I think you both have a GREAT interest in the hobby and both of your knowledge is serving on both forums.

Pierre is getting to almost 2000 messages this year only (He was a moderator for most of the year) and almost ;) everyone of them where to help someone. They would often finish by : "why don't you call me so we can fix that thru the phone .."

I must say that I'm not Pierre defense attorney, but he's very helpful on the other site and only trying to help. You should see how many members he helped by jumping in his car at midnight and drove 30 k's just to program a Trunktracker scanner !! He did it again last week when we were on the chat of the site at 1 AM from St-Laurent to Vaudreuil !!!!!

I don't know a lot of guys that would do that for somebody they don't even know or never meet and made them happy instantly :D after an hour of personnal training on scanners ...

I must say that he's known for a very special humour and also have a great quality too that is to help and be very direct with people. He's known for adding that clown at the end of his sometime harsh comments to ease the reality :

Like any email or post, his humour is always depending on the reader's state of mind !!! But for sure they should never be taken on the first degree.

Keep up the good work both of ya and thanks to you guys, a lot of members enjoy their equipement like they do ! ;)

DaveH since you're in the Ottawa area, if you have some addition to make in the Quebec DB for the "Outaouais" area and wish to share them, throw them at me ! I know the area pretty much, stayed in Gatineau for 10 years.

Dear Friend Slypx,

Thank you so much for these comments, they are extremely appreciated but it was not necessary.

I usually never mention this but since you have brought it up in the discussion:

Over the past 2 years, I have taken my car and drove 145 times to assist with the programmation of the entire spectrum of scanners available on the market. (Even the GRE that I don't really like). I have done this especially for beginners, who don't know where to start, all mixed-up with Trunking, cannot read the english only owner manual etc.... AND this is beside over 150 assistance provided over the phone.
I don't only do the programming but I also give them a "crash course" to be at least somehow functionnal on their own (as much as possible).

Why do I do this ?
Definately not for the money (I make more money that you can ever imagine Mr Dave)
BUT rather for the passion that I have for this 32-years old hobby of mine. What I like to see is the smile in a beginner's face when I leave and that not only he can monitor something BUT I can see in his (her) eyes that the learning process has been jumpstarted.
And I have a lot of fun doing it despite my extremely intense professional obligations and schedule.

I even drove 140 km on a wednesday night in the middle of winter (last year) to manually program a BC246T for an elderly woman.
Would YOU do this Mr. Dave ?

Note for Slypx
I have looked in the User CP section but I haven't found the way to close an account here.
Since you are very familiar with this Site, would you please confirm how to proceed please (either via Email or on Infoscan)
Thank you

Pierre, I agree with the others, you may want to reconsider, and
stick around RR. However, the decision is yours. In the large scheme
of things, this is really a small issue. I have no special status here, but
I know RR can use more direct input from Quebec.

Like you, I have been in this hobby for many years (~1970) so I
think we both have much to contribute in our ways.

I am surprised that my minor objection caused such a reaction,
and think that in retrospect I should have communicated it privately,
but it is done and I suggest (as before) we consider this a "bump in
the road" and move ahead. Most people reading this probably don't
know half of what this is about, but I'm prepared to leave it that way.

So this thread has gone off topic, maybe almost fit for the "Tavern"
(I still call it that), but hopefully resolved.
