I am in need of some help with my BCT15. For some reason, there is absolutely no sound when someone keys up on a channel, even with the volume as high as it will go. The only way you can hear anything is when you plug in headphones into the jack on the scanner. I figured if the speaker was busted, I would still be able to hear something, it would just be muffled. What am I missing? Can anyone help me out?

Sounds like the external speaker jack is stuck. This is a known problem and a search in the forum will turn up some answers for you.

I have seen some reports on these forums about the headphone jacks breaking in the "in use" position causing the same type issue you are reporting on both the 15 and 996. If you are handy with a soldering iron it should be simple fix, or maybe you could just tinker around with the guts of the phone jack and move the broken tab away from the contact it has failed against, then avoid using it. Do a search here to see the other threads for more info and what others have done to remedy the problem. Good luck!

Dwayne types faster than me.........
