Several questions:

1) On the "marine" function, how many frequencies are programmed into the system ?

2) is it possible to add frequencies to the "marine" function ?

3) how many frequencies can be added ?

It's quicker to scan a few channels that are used in your specific location than doing search on a range.

But the range to search in 25KHz steps are small, 156.000-157.500 to cover all channels.
Some channel ranges are duplex used by coast stations where a boat owner unfamiliar with radio procedures are always heard even if the coast station are transmitting at the same time. If the channel number has an A it will instead be a simplex channel. Duplex ranges are ch1-ch7 and ch18-ch28 and the coast station are transmitting 4MHz higher in frequency.

For duplex channels I program the channel with its 4MHz higher frequency next to it so I can do a hold and then toggle between the input and output frequency. I don't know if duplex channels are actually used in US as the reverse function on the scanner doesn't cover marine VHF.
