Are Drivers Needed For The BCT15X Serial Programming Cable ?

Searched for the answer to this question and can't find it any where, so I'm asking here.

The standard serial cable that is supplied with the scanner: No drivers needed. Just plug it into a 9 pin mating serial port on a PC.

Don't have a serial port on the PC? Then you need a USB-to-Serial RS-232 adapter, and that will need drivers.

You can also use a pci to serial card adapter if you need a serial port on your computer or on windows 8 you have to have the usb cable with the latest chip in it for it to work.
