I have a bearcat 210xl and having a problem with it storing memory when unplugged. I installed a new battery, but no such luck. When I took the unit apart, I could see that there was a positive wire going from the backup battery to the circuit board, but there was no wire at all on the negative terminal of the backup battery. I looked everywhere and cannot find the wire or where on the board that it might need to be soldered to. Does anyone have any ideas. I have looked all over the place for a service manual, but no such luck there either. Even if someone can take theirs apart and take a picture of where that negative wire needs to go on the board, that would be very helpful. Email can be provided if anyone can get a picture. Thanks for the help.

I've got a BC210. This may not be the same as a BC210XL. Anyway, I took several photos of it if you'd like them.

You know what, the bc210 is different. I got my hands on the schematic for that model, and things are just a little different in the design. I won't need the pictures, but thank you very much!

The black wire from the battery holder goes to a ground connection in the scanner, any circuit board ground will do. In fact even the metal case could be used as a grounding point.
