BearCat296D Programming Software Problems

Has anyone experienced computer problems with the subject software? My P4 2.93GHz computer slows down and eventually locks up when I try to use this stuff trying to control and program my 296D.

I just downloaded the Butel ARC250 program and it runs fine.

My computer is fairly new and has all USB ports. I am using a USB/Serial adapter. this seems to be fine with the Butel program.

I have a bc796d and couldnot get the programming portion or the control portion of the software to work. It said I was missing a file and some sort of error code appeared at some point also. My version is 1.0, anyone know if there is an updated version? Or should just use aftermarket source? I ended up using scancat lite plus to program mine. I have a laptop with xp and celeron and couldnt get the included software to work on it. scannerdweeb.

My scanner was purchased about 6 weeks ago and the software is also v 1.0. From info on the Uniden web site it appears they may be updates.

I will continue with Arc250 and see how it goes . . . so far so good.
