Whipped up a little vibe coded SD card manager for the Beartracker 885 to aid in editing the SD card/programming the scanner service types, adding new channels, seeing stations in range of a zip code or city (simulates what the GPS does) and visualizing/simulating button presses. Please feel free to try out and give feedback/assist in debugging.

NOTE: THIS PROJECT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IN ALPHA/EXTREME BETA. ESPECIALLY THE HEATMAP FEATURE. BACKUP YOUR SD CARD AS IS TO PRESERVE ANY CHANGES YOU ALREADY HAVE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DATA LOSS.

Ill say one HUGE performance gain I got was updating my local stations with RR latest data. It had all my local trunked channels listed as Mode-All. Switching them to Mode-Digital and thereby making them scan by TGID offered huge gains in the amount of traffic picked up.

One of the things Ive noticed during this project is Uniden is very lazy in how it takes new RR data and converts it for the beartracker 885. I have gotten huge gains just eliminating a bunch of multicast conventional stations that would only be used during disaster, deleting encrypted stations (which Uniden leaves in what the heck) and correcting modes all to modes digital.

Update pushed today - the biggest feature added is the ability to create multiple virtual SD cards that can quickly be swapped between on the physical SD card in order to change between entirely different profiles quickly without having to buy multiple SD cards.
Theoretical, but untested Linux and MacOS support also added. Many other small things added or improved upon.

Will be messing with this as I have a 885 and have been editing the files via excel. This will be more convenient to edit and make the listing to what I want on the card. I just played with it for a quick minute and what would be nice (as I make a custom sd card for my county) is a way to multi-select items to delete. So say I don't want all the other counties around me, a bulk select and delete. Also for selecting TG and changing to all digital. I tried to select more than one TG and could not. Unless I'm missing something, but I only messed with it real quick before getting on here. Will spend a little more time on it once I bring in the sd card from the radio itself and not my statewide card. I've tried to get someone else to make a program like this, but guess that isnt going to happen anytime soon.

Hey, its been awhile, but Im back with another update. With the latest round of updates, I went ahead and incorporated working on my SDS100 to begin branching this out into a full multi-scanner app and building the backend to do so rather than being specifically focused on one device. As such, scanner manager now has beta SDS100/200 control and streaming, along with HPDB and favorites editing. An ALPHA streaming dock for broadcastify, icecast, etc is also present but very untested. Also Uniden tools (Shell of Uniden update software to execute Uniden update) is being depreciated in favor of DIRECT firmware and SDcard updating (it now accesses Uniden's FTP server directly.

Furthermore, it creates a basic waterfall view of frequencies without needing the upgrade from Uniden

I also fully reverse engineered the current subfirmware, and left a complete dump and all RE notes under RE in the metacache in the github repo if anyone wants it for future dev work on Uniden stuff.
I plan on confirming it builds and has basic compatibility with Debian this weekend to at least go ahead and get it to a running state on Linux.
Next week I plan on working on the third pillar: Virtual scanning - building a virtual scanner that works with digital antennas that has a software backend that hopefully I can get to the point that we've bridged 90-95% of the gap between virtual scanners and the SDS100 via software-side implementations

Is there a link to get this version? The link a few post above doesn't seem to be this one.

Nice to see the updates, would this also work for the 536HP? Any update to being able to multi-select on the 885 side of things?

Sorry, accidentally pushed it to gitlab (where I maintain my private repo that I use between computers) instead of github. Github is updated with the new version now.

I mean, theoretically as long as it uses the BCD SDcard setup/tree/layout that the 885 and SDS100 use - the SDcard/storage mode SHOULD work (BACKUP - remember you're dealing with a beta project and in this case something it wasnt tested for. Insert usual use at your own risk speech here).
I theoretically could use uniden documentation to implement direct operation like the SDS100, but until I could secure the other scanner variants for testing, or someone wants to pick up the torch who has those physical scanners to cover the gaps and implement it fully, it is only theoretical.

Also virtual scanner roadmap here - next big update (And the reason for SDS reverse engineering)
