New to scanning and new to forums, I got my scanner (BCT 15) about 4 months ago and programmed it up with info from this site, it worked great. Now the last month or so I have not heard a peep out of my scanner except for some cb,FRS channels. Has anything changed? Does anyone know? thanks for any info or help.

According to a "news" report on the Jeff Co. system page, Beaumont PD is moving to P25 CAI. Also, it appears that the system underwent rebanding at the beginning of September. Either or both of these may explain what happened to your reception. Obviously you can reprogram the system in your BCT15, but that will not help for the digital channels.

As for the site's information, yes I believe it is current as it was just updated at the beginning of September, examine the History tab on the TRS page.

As for your scanners, I own a number of non-digital scanners, but to be honest, I don't use them for much as far as general scanning. Usually they are committed to monitoring limited things like a single agency still using analog or using them as base-band audio for decoding software.

Just as an FYI.....BPD is still analog, the switch to digital is still in the early stages.....Kay Electronics techs are still beta testing digital TG's for this system.....The only digital TG's are page outs for the Fire Dept and one or two for PD that aren't being used yet......all other comms are analog.
Most of the work is going toward integrating the old Share-Net System (off of the old Huntsman Tower at the Motiva facility in Port Arthur) into the Bmt/JC System. You can also look for a new tower to come up in Hardin County in the future.

I just noticed here in the BE newsroom we are no longer picking up the Jefferson County or City of Beaumont systems.

Was programming a new portable BCD396XT for our web and weekend reporters and noticed it.

Suddenly if you "hold" on any talk group I have programmed for City of Beaumont or Jefferson County Sheriff the phrase "Finding CntrlChan" flashes alternately with the talk group name. Hmmm...

Did they add some new freq.s?

@Max Morell... I had been uynder the impression that BNPD/BFD and JCSO had ll been digital for the past year or so.

Any ideas??

Thanks for the info.

I have re-upped my membership at RadioReference.com and downloaded the data.

I have the Beaumont PD and FD running now I believe though I havent heard BF/R tone out for anything yet I am getting BPD.

Got Jefferson County working again also.

I DID call the City of Beaumont radio shop and someone there confirmed that "a few days ago" they made some changes so it all makes sense as the latest updates at RadioReference.com were added on Oct 31.

Now I am having trouble getting the DPS stuff set up for our area. Anyone had any luck with that?

Be sure that, for the digital TX DPS channels, you don't have the frequency set to 'search' for a PL or DCS tone or code. Set the audio type to "digital only".

New Talkgroups - Sat., Dec. 15, 2012

I programmed one bank on my Pro-2096 to monitor new talkgroups that are on the Jefferson County Regional Radio System.

I have discovered 8 of them on today:

12368, 10256, 12304, 21744, 21776, 22288, 12336, and 4880.

Four of these are probably assigned to the Beaumont Police Department (12368, 12304, and 12336).

Two are probably assigned to Acadian EMS or another EMS service not in the city of Beaumont (21744 and 21776).

One is probably assigned to the Port Neches Fire Department (4880).

Does anyone know the alpha tags to these talkgroups or may know of any other talkgroups on this system?

Are these new talkgroups you're hearing using P25 or analog?

edit: I've noticed the last few times I was out there that the old VHF frequencies for Labelle-Fannett, Hamshire, China, and Nome VFDs were all silent so they may have transitioned to the 800 system as well.

Some are in analog mode; the rest are in digital mode. They are all part of the Jefferson County Regional Radio System.

I've heard the Labelle-Fannett Fire Dept. last week on the VHF frequencies listed on RadioReference. Beaumont FD still uses its VHF frequency as a backup.
