I have no issues hearing or picking up the control channel or voice channels on the Fonthill site. I have not picked up site 13 Skylon Tower Niagara Falls. Using my SDS100 to scan the voice channels, I can hear them loud and clear with a strong signal. So, it seems I am not picking up the control channel for whatever reason. Does anyone know the current control channel? I have the following loaded in my scanner:

142.095000 control
142.950000 control
141.525000
142.305000
142.200000
142.650000
I might be a bit late to the party as I only listen to OPP and just found out they are going to a new system which is encrypted. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

It will probably be a few more weeks before the area HSD covers migrates over to PSRN so FleetNet Skylon should still be on the air.

I'd search and see if the control channel has moved.

Fonthill and Skylon towers are still up and running with OPP.

Hey Saint, any chance you’re able to see what the control channel frequency is locked to for Skylon?

thanks for the replies... Still playing with different stuff but can not grab either of the control channels. I programmed the voice channels on a seperate testing system as P25 one frequency.
141.525000
142.305000
142.200000
142.650000
When i scan those i can hear everything. 5 bars signal -90 rssi. Signal is great. I just can not figure out why I can not get the control channel. I have a few different antennas including omni x as well as a VHF antenna on seperate lines. Both antennas are outside above the peak of my roof on a 2 story home. I am in cheektowaga NY about 5 miles south of buffalo NY. Any suggestions??

Would you be able to attach your programming file for at least the system? Perhaps something is amiss in there or turned off.

This is my .hpd file for FLEETNET System
Only the Skylon and Fonthill towers are turned on and a lot of the police and others are turned off, you can go in and make the changes you want.

I'm here a lot
I took a look at it and my suggestion would be to edit your favorite list to ID SEARCH: ON. I see that it is currently set to OFF. Other than that, everything looks fine to me.

I will give that a try. I've got nothing to lose. I have it on searching now, but I don't think that will have any bearing on picking up the control channel. It makes no sense because everything on paper shows I should get it with no issues. Last night, I did a custom search and just inputted the range of the voice channels and was hearing loud and clear with a full signal.

To be fair... if you can receive the voice channels for the site nicely, there's nothing left on there other than the OPP... wouldn't be the worst way to scan it for the time left with it, worst case.

It was the only thing on that system I ever scanned, occasionally. I am not familiar with the streets and roads in Ontario, but it was nice listening once in a while. I am always playing around to see how far I can pick up different systems. My current project is trying to get Allegheny County, NY. It is about 60 miles from me on VHF analog. I can get them occasionally, but there is a lot of static

I've been picking up the Niagara Skylon voice channels. I have a tg id of 542 that keeps showing up. It is not in the database. Sounds like OPP. Anyone know who this is?

It’s OPP, Burlington talk group. It’s the Motorola talk group ID number - they’re multipled by 16 for Uniden scanners, which you see in the database. It shows up like this when just scanning voice channels and not via the trunked system.

Niagara EMS has been over to the new system for a couple weeks now. OPP is still on the old FleetNet, and is working normally.
