How I found the sites I was hearing, was with the help of a nearby friend who was running UniTrunker. It was just amazing trying to listen to the Bell Fleetnet system. Sometimes there were up to 4 towers on one frequency. Conversely, there are a few confirmed reports that the Alabama State Highway Patrol, was received in southwest Michigan, and southern Wisconsin on 154.920 and 158.790 MHz. Now that is what I call some long-haul skip on VHF-High band.
Keep in mind, that the 4 zones share control channels. Just because you pick up a site on one frequency, doesn't mean it isn't a site from another zone.
Scrap unitrunker, and go with Trunk88. It tells you the System ID and the Site ID, which you can then check on RR to know exactly what site you're picking up.
T88 will also work with a MUCH crapier signal than Unitrunker, so you'll be able to decode those far off sites much better.
