I know that there are a few of you here monitoring Beltrami county along with me so I figured I would start a thread.

I have a very limited ability to hear Beltrami Co traffic and most I am monitoring on peer sites. I reliably get Kabekona, usually get Alida and occasionally get Bemidji Fire tower and even Island Lake when conditions are favorable.

I am beginning to get some hits on the TGs assigned to Beltrami county. I haven't seen any estimates in local media regarding when they will be implementing, but there is some testing going on and I have heard that they plan to go ARMER this summer. I haven't confirmed any of these yet but have some suspicions based upon the limited traffic I am hearing.

TG Hits Suspected Use
51503 14 ?
51507 55 Patch to VL-3 and VL-4
51508 33 All I am hearing are tones
51511 3 ?
51516 123 Law 1

You can check my website for a detailed listing of Beltrami County talkgroups.

Wow! Thanks Steve. The information that some of you have or have collected is amazing.

I am guessing that you didn't get that info by simply monitoring and logging. You either pulled if from a publicly available source I couldn't find or you have a confidential, top secret, inside source. I am not going to ask you to reveal anything you shouldn't, but if the source is public, could you link to it?

I get my information from sources I developed working in Public safety, as these are my sources I do not reveal where my information comes from. I post the information I feel is shareable on my website. I do not submit my data to the RR database I ask that those who use my site respect that request and refrain from reposting to RR database.

I completely understand and I am completely on board. As I stated, I don't want you to share anything you shouldn't. One must safeguard sources and not compromise your integrity nor the integrity of your sources. I think that we all have folks that share with us some things that they wouldn't share if they knew we were going to broadcast what we have learned. I will not be sharing the data or reposting in any form or format.

They are currently training/testing. All the calls put out on anything but 51500 are b/s. I know not very many people are listening to those tg's, or facebook would be exploding with the shootings at the hospital, and foot pursuits at walmart, etc. I am surprised they don't announce they are testing or training, I was really shocked the first time I heard the shots fired at the hospital call.
edit: wrong tgid

I haven't heard any of the traffic you note. I would concur that there are probably very few if any folks monitoring. I had a chat with the folks at Rogers 2-Way about a month ago. They haven't sold too many armer capable scanners. They didn't seem to know much about monitoring with SDR Dongles, but one of the gals there was quite interested.

I've changed the priority on the Beltrami TGs so that they get recorded.

I don't think many people realize Roger's sells scanners, I often forget myself. I believe the dispatchers are training, they have been rotating through putting out these fake calls. A few days ago one of them was dispatching a structure fire call south of Bemidji on the county line, "Structure fire approximately 2 miles south of Bemidji blah blah blah" My wife who has very interest in listening got a laugh on that one.

Beginning yesterday I am hearing and logging some traffic on the channel referred to as BL-4. The traffic seems to be limited to the city of Bemidji and the unit numbering has been two digit rather than the 85xx.

There was also a bunch of hits on the Emergency Buttons which I assume was testing.

My reception from the Bemidji Fire Tower site (the only one I get in the area) has been pretty rotten the last few days so the stuff I am hearing has been pretty limited.

Anyone else with some observations?

Bemidji PD switched to armer yesterday. They have been testing emergency buttons a lot. Bemidji pd has been on BL4 as of yesterday and today. Don't know when they plan to switch to a dispatch talk group. Most of the time they skip the first two digits in the badge number, the county cars are 8101-8140, pd cars are 8551-8599, so the 81 or 85 is kind of redundant, they have always done this.

Thanks for the info KC0RZW!

I have heard some 84xx and 86xx units identify; do you know what agency they are from? If I remember correctly the Bemidji FD was 87xx.

In the past I rarely listened to the Beltrami Co. stuff, but I would always get a reliable signal with the VHF frequencies. Now listening to Beltrami Co. is a bit more difficult as the only site I get regularly is the Bemidji Fire Tower site, and I only get that 40-60% of the time. This morning I am getting Island Lake clear as a bell, but there isn't much traffic on that site yet. Hopefully the Beltrami stuff will begin affiliating with the Kabekona site when they are fully operational.

81xx sheriff office, 83xx bemidji ambulance, 8339/8340 blackduck ambulance, 8441/42 was blackduck pd, but they are without a police department at the moment, 85xx bemidji pd, 86xx bemidji fire. 87xx is BSU security, but they usually only venture off their channel accidentally.

Fabulous! As I recall, those are the same unit numbers they used back to the late 80s. 10-4 on the BSU Security units.

County Deputies seem to be on now and the TG switch to Law 1 and Law 2 has occurred. I have not heard any FD traffic as of yet.

I logged two 43xx units doing foot patrol at Cameron. What are the 43xx units?

The SO officially switched over this week, and they started using the law mains for dispatch traffic. Bemidji fire as of now has no intention of switching over except as a patch to the analog channel. The other fire departments have been using the EMS channels for dispatch, unknown what their plans are. The first half of the 43xx are citizens patrol, second half are Bemidji pd reserves.
