Well those of you in the area know pretty much all the "intresting" stuff went digital. And since I can not yet afford a digital radio I was wondering whats left in the county that isent digital..... yet...

I have fire dispatch, police point, hern, smcas & medic 1 ambulance's, and some coast guard freq. And the local taco bell but after a while of hearing people order tacos it starts geting kinda boreing. :)

So whats left to program into my little old analog scanner??

Actually I rememberd to check the Berrien page right after posting the first message. Its actually kinda scary how many of those I have in my files somewhere. But there are quite a few new ones I had no idea about. So i'll have some scanning and verifying to do for a while. :)

St. Joe City, Benton Harbor, and Benton Township are still on their old frequencies, Although Benton Township moved their distpatch from 155.565 to 460.200. I think they use 155.565 for LEIN now.

Also, one of the part-time county mounties told me they used their old 460 frequencies at the Berrien County Youth Fair a few weeks ago.

How about listening to some of the radio station remote pickups? sometimes you can hear some interesting conversations going on when they aren't actually talking on the air. Don't know if you are familiar with Florine and Leo Izaak who used to do the queen contests on WHFB, but they always left their mikes open and you could hear some pretty good arguements going on while the studio was playing commercials. radio station RPTs are mostly in the 161, 450, and 455 MHz bands.

Benton Harbor PD recently got a grant that they are using to buy radios on MPSCS, so theier days are numbered on analog.

St. Joe PD has had the radios for some time, but appears to only use them for 911 calls and assists and special events. AFAIK they will just use both for now.

Niles Township Fire Department is now on 151-370. I heard them test this morning and early this evening, I heard them dispatch a P.I. Accident with entraptment and gas leaking from, one of the cars!

Yep heard them as well. Although I havent been paying enough attention as to who was useing which new fire freq. Been listening to Berrien Springs Police lowpower on 460.500. And now that summer is coming on the Coast Guard frequencies have also started to pick up a bit. Its also kinda fun on the good days listening to the freighter ships as they come in and out or even just pass by Benton Harbor / St Joseph. Its even better when the web cam ( http://wndu.com/weather/skyview_stjoe.php ) is pointed the right direction to see them come in.

One of these days i'll save up enough for a digital scanner till then i'll keep myself busy. :)
