Thank you. Do you have a la crosse charger?

I do. I have the BC1000.

I just opened the box on my C9000. I love it. What is the best discharge rate for brand new eneloop's? Also, after I discharge them all (16), should I run the "Break-in" mode on them? How long does this take? Thanks in advance.

When I first got my Maha C9000's 2 years ago I used to do all the break in and discharge stuff with my Eneloops. I don't even bother doing that anymore as I have found just using them and charging them when needed is good enough IMO. The Break In mode I believe takes about 36 hours. That is why I have 2 C9000's, used one for break in purposes and the other for charging. I have not done any conditioning on my 2 latest sets of Eneloop Pros and they have been working good to close to a year now with regular daily use.

I think many manufacturers say half the MAH is the best charging rate and half of that is the best discharge rate.

I returned the lacrosse bc1000. If you moved it when it was charging it would reset. Returned to Amazon and bought the C9000. Only thing I wish it had the la crosse had was that it charged after the discharge cycle completed automatically. After my scanner batteries were low I would set it on discharge to drain them and then it charged.

So for the C9000 users. Do you discharge before charging? When my scanners beeping that they're low, is it ok to just charge them or should I run a discharge and when that's complete run a charge?

I have about 8 Eneloops but now buy the Amazon rechargeable. They seem to be just as good as the Eneloop and a lot lower price.

When I get the low battery warning on my scanners I just take the batteries out and recharge them. I see no reason to waste usage of the batteries so to speak with Discharge and Break In. Now if the batteries are not used for long periods(months) I would do a Break In and Discharge and go back to normal use. My batteries are used daily so I do not do either procedure.

The recommended charging current is 0.5C, or 0.5 times the battery capacity. The recommended discharging current is 0.25C, or 0.25C times the battery capacity. Here are some settings for common batteries:

2700mAh Charge: 1300mA Discharge: 700mA

2650mAh Charge: 1300mA Discharge: 700mA

2500mAh Charge: 1200mA Discharge: 600mA

2300mAh Charge: 1100mA Discharge: 600mA

2200mAh Charge: 1100mA Discharge: 600mA

2100mAh Charge: 1000mA Discharge: 500mA

2000mAh Charge: 1000mA Discharge: 500mA

1000mAh Charge: 500mA Discharge: 200mA

900mAh Charge: 400mA Discharge: 200mA

850mAh Charge: 400mA Discharge: 200mA

800mAh Charge: 400mA Discharge: 200mA

700mAh Charge: 300mA Discharge: 200mA

650mAh Charge: 300mA Discharge: 200mA

600mAh Charge: 300mA Discharge: 200mA

I got this table from Thomas Distributing, here is the link to some FAQ about the C9000 on their site:

I do not discharge before charging. I have done it once or twice because I was curious at what point my HP-2 determined the batteries were too low. Discharging them is not necessary unless you want to know their "true" capacities.

It has been studied that breaking-in Eneloops provide no benefit. They are so good you can just open them straight out of the package and use them.
