I just acquired a broadband pre-amp (we're in a rural area).

Am I good if there's about 2 feet of coax from the antenna to the pre-amp?

It's another 6 feet to the entry to the building.

I'm powering the pre-amp using a bias-tee ...

I generally have lightning arrestors on all antenna and rotator lines.

As I recall I need to choose an arrestor that passes DC any recommendations?

Note: I need it to pass 150 - 900MHz signals.

Or, is the pre-amp likely to function as a lightning arrestor - failing open in the case of a nearby strike?

Thanks

12" UHF to sma jumper from the CX-333 vertical to the pre-amp, then a 10ft RG-8x to the sma-to-sma lightning arrestor. Then a 5 ft sma-to-sma jumper to the bias tee (housed in a repurposed little metal mint box - powered via a repurposed Remington shaver charger wall wart). Then one last 12" sma-to-sma jumper to the rtl-sdr dongle. It seems to be working ...
