Ok, who wants to do it?

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=Chat

Login with your radioreference.com username and password. There is a 10 min time limit with your login id - so you'll get booted every 10 min, but you can just rejoin to continue the conversations.

Give it a whirl, give it a vote, and we'll see the results.

Well, I tried it but it said it couldn't connect. Might be my firewall at work. Looks cool though, if it works, I'd say it's a keeper.

Yea, didn't work for me either! :( Maybe it's a Flash thing or something... couldn't we just get a simple java based chat room?

I got in just fine. Looks nice Lindsay!

I'm guessing that the 10 minute timeout is because it's a demo version at the moment?

I got on w/ Windows XP and AOL 9.0 fine, but i don't think we need it, the one we have now works fine, doesn't it. I am not that technical with these different types of chat formats. If this chat format has something that the other one doesn't, I guess i didn't figure it out. Please correct me if I am wrong.

what's wrong with the original PHP module?

i like that one...it's on the front page, and you get numerous functions...

you young whippersnappers crack me up : )

This, coming from a sysadmin.

First, the existing package kills the server (refresh HTML every few seconds for each client).

Second, during heavy load times on the server, you'll get absolutely no chat response.

Third, the new beta test is TCP based, so it is real time, and much more scalable than a broke-dick html refresh mechanism.

Time to read "who moved my cheese."

"sysadmin"???

i resent that - please address me by my PROPER title: bit janitor.

thank you - i'll be here all night!

you young miscreants go right ahead and test your fancy "TCP" "real-time" chat - i'll be hanging out on #textchatonly

I like it as well; however, opus considering your location, the only people (other than your neighbors) you might find on when you are awake are night-owls like Thunderbolt or me.

my buddy implemented phpBBChatSpot and it is pretty awesome. No need to re-log in either.

Tried it again today, even went into the control panel and fiddled with all sorts of options, but it still won't work. It says it can't connect to the server. I think its our firewall here. :( Too bad, looks like it would be fun.

Oh well. I prefer PM's and forums anyway.
