All you police/firemen want a better salary? Move to Boston.

In 2006, the average uniformed police officer made $113,617, including $35,600 in detail and overtime pay, according to figures provided by city budget officials. Firefighters, on average, made $91,087 in 2006, including about $12,500 in overtime and detail pay. The average teacher made $62,195 in total pay.

That was my first thought too... still, must have one hell of a union....

Similar things have been reported about Anne Arundel County in recent years... but not a 1/4 of a million dollars!

Honestly. Have you ever heard of staffing shortages, call backs, special event details, or shift holdovers for teachers? That $113k minus overtime is only about $75k. If you want to see high salaries, look at Bergen County,NJ.

I wouldn't live in either place due to the cost of living. That $75k salary doesn't go very far.

Actually have heard other way as Mass area people headed down this way for tax relief.
Recent neighbors from there and love lower property taxes down here.
