• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello there, Rick. Hope all is well! First of all thanks for letting us know about the updates. Glad they're working on improvements always. I forget to go to the portal and check so again appreciate that. Also, do you by chance know anything about the mystery device (for me) "BKR0721 CFP Charger Field Programmer" that is used to update the chargers? The bulletins have mentioned this before I noticed but my charger was up to date and so didn't think much about it. They make no mention of how to obtain one or anything else about it. Is ir for dealers only? I wouldn't think BK is expecting us all to send in chargers every time there's a firmware update, lol. I'm assuming it's fairly easy and any of us can do it. I've updated chargers from other manufactures before without and issues so hopefully we can get one of these CFP's. Any information you have I would appreciate it sir.

My regional sales rep just updated both of my chargers with the new charger firmware update so I could upgrade the batteries so that I could update the radios with the latest firmware.
My issue that I have is that when I follow the instructions in the service bulletin regarding the update I did not see the INI Ver. listed in the menu under Battery Statistics in the radios. The radios never showed an INI rev in the menu before.

The BKSB-1092 Service Bulletin states:

To verify the battery’s INI rev.:
  1. With the battery attached to the radio, switch the radio on.
  2. Select [Menu]
  3. Select [System Test]
  4. Select [Battery Statistics]

I added System Test to the Menu and then I did everything the bulletins said and went ahead and upgraded one radio to the new firmware (5.10.36f.). I can now see the INI rev. in the menu on the radio, the Bluetooth Menu is different now as well and the radio took the firmware update with no issues yet that I have seen. My INI rev. for the battery is still showing rev. 7 though on the radio battery that was supposed to have been updated. I don't know what is going on.
The bluetooth still won't work with the OTTO Bluetooth remote speaker mic I have, the speaker pairs to the radio and I get audio but the PTT does not work. Pairing and Connecting does seem to be faster now since the update.
I tried again after the update to pair my Apple AirPods Pro as well with the radio and it will now pair successfully but only for a few seconds until it disconnects on its own and then repeatedly tries to reconnect with the AirPods with no success.

Anyone else having issues?

What’s the sticker on the bottom of your charger? Or version they put in. It’s possible the CFP they had was not the latest version.

What INI version in your battery? That will help determine if it is updated properly.

He did not have the new stickers with him but said it was the latest revision.

My regional rep tried to update the charger again today with no success. We read and followed all the steps for the Charger Field Programmer twice and is still did not update the batteries I had. Not sure exactly what the issue is. He was kind enough however to swap my old batteries with some brand new ones that are the latest version, version 13.
After that I upgraded the two handhelds with the latest firmware release with Lightning and have no issues so far.
The charger I have still has the INI version 7 firmware in it. The version 13 batteries did not revert back to version 7 when I put them in the charger.

I wonder if this is a battery, charger, or charger firmware upgrade issue. Either way, it sounds like he fixed you up, and you got some fresh batteries in the process.
