I figured they were at a close show yesterday. THey flew ofver my house around 5:30 heading back to Pensacola which is about 20 miles from here. They practice almost everyday here over the gulf. No lack of traffic with them!

2005 Springfield IL Air Rendezvous Report

Another great year at the Springfield Illinois Air Rendezvous
air show. Thanks to the fine efforts of organizer Kim Curry
the U.S. Navy Blue Angels were able to perform on very short
notice. Show dates were changed to accomodate them and the
show was held Saturday, April 30th & Sunday, May 1st, 2005.

We had to leave town early and missed the Sunday show but we
did attend the Friday practice media event and the main show
on Saturday. Drizzle on Friday and high winds on Saturday had
some effect, as did the Angel's mechanical problems, but the
show went on as planned. Always a blast at Air Rendezvous.
I hear the Sunday show was even better.

Special thanks to Gregg Shepperd for all the frequency finds
on Friday and to Fred, Joel & Bob for making the trip down to
Springfield with us. And of course to my wife Kim, who somehow
manages to deal with all my obsessions.

My main gear for the show consisted of an Olympus C-700
digital
camera and Radio Shack Pro-97. The new signal stalker
function
on the 97 proved its worth at the show.

McGuire AFB is finally hosting the first air show since 2001 due to 911. I was wondering if the Blue Angels change thier frequencies from show to show or can I go by the ones that are listed in the previous posts in the topic? Also, Do the "Golden Knights" talk to eachother durring thier jumps? If so, what frequencies? If anybody knows any other frequencies to watch out for durring this show, please list away. Thanks....Wolf

Rather than repeat all the traffic and freqs that were noted, I'd suggest checking the Maryland forum for the Blue Angels thread. Freqs, files and notes aplenty there, as well as links to the Monitoring Times website where there was a great deal of info re freqs for the Golden Knights, ect. I'd also check the Phillyscanner Yahoo group as well as the Penn. forum here.

Files have also been posted on the new scan-nj website files area. Here's the link

Scan-NJ

There's some .cvs files in that area; that's a typo for csv

Be sure to include the 2 new BA ground freqs; they seem to be using them a great deal more - at least in the last few shows - than the ones listed in the 160-170 mhz area. They are brand new FM freqs in the 138-144 mhz area.

I've seen the Blues change freqs some between shows over the course of the year. I would just plug in all you can find and go from there. You can lock out the others not in use. During the air part of the show I think they use maybe three at the most. As for the Golden Knights you hear a lot of comms between 'Friendship One" and the ground spotters. The last time I hear the Knights was on one of their very low freqs.
