Heres a few pictures from Friday's practice session. As sholt said, it was awesome to be able to hear the Blue Angels on my scanner coordinating their moves with each other. Those guys are truly an incredible group of pilots!

Yeah today (Sunday) there was a moving layer of fog from 500' to around 2000'.

The Canadian F/A-18 Super Hornet had to resort to mostly just high speed passes (sounded pretty pissed about it, too!) and a lot of performers had to pare down their routines due to the unpredictability of the weather.

Luckily, the decision to put the Blue Angels off for an hour and have them perform at 4pm instead of 3pm paid off and they were able to do a full show. Really awesome stuff.

Thanks again to everyone who helped with frequencies either by providing them or confirming them against last years' listings. I bought my GRE PSR-310 on the Monday following the 2011 displays because my old scanner just didn't cut it, and it was totally worth it. Even my friends who aren't into monitoring or aviation as much as me really enjoyed being able to hear the Air Boss and the A/A transmissions from the Blue Angels.

Finally, in case she ever sees this, I wanted to thank Donna the Air Boss for doing such an awesome job, especially with the tricky weather today!
