I wish the new 396T would include this great technology. Most top of the line cell phones, PDA and cars have this feature. You can use your blue tooth headset to listen and talk on your cell without wire and up to 30 feet away. You can use the same headset to listen to your scanner audio in car or noisy places. No more external speakers, and will icrease your scanner battery life by reducing its volume.

Thoughts?

This would be an awesome addition, no more wires to get tangled up or in the way. No more plugging/unplugging external speakers saving wear and tear on the scanner's headphone jack.

blue tooth

I wonder if you can plug in a blue tooth capabable module to the new 396T? These modules are vailable for older cell phone which do not include this feature.

I don't see why not, just need an adapter that will adapt the 3/32nd plug of the bluetooth module to a 1/8th plug into the scanner and you're all set.

Radio Shack sells these adapters.

Blue tooth module

Would this kind of module work with any scanner currently on the markrt? I have the 296D and 796D. Ofcourse you need to pair your headset with your scanner equiped with module.

The possibilities...

If money were no object, this is what I'd have:

Phonito Wireless Earphone

But alas, money is an object of sorts, so I'll just keep wishing.

:D

While I think the idea of no wires to monitor the audio output from the scnaner is a great one, we're going to be limited to battery life no matter what technology we come up with. 4 hours is pretty much the limit I've seen so far on the Bluetooth devices, maybe in time some new technology for batteries will make itself known and we won't have to worry about things dying at the least opportune moments.
