I have the "Hagibis" unit... And yes it is small and looks great on the SDS100...
But, it appears to have a very short time for going into standby if there is no audio feeding it...
I find I miss alot of transmissions by the time it kicks out of standby mode...
My other bluetooth devices don't do that...

I would suggest this unit...

All BT devices uses sleep mode where it shuts down when it hasn't received audio for a while. When the audio returns it has to fire up the BT transmitter again and sync with the receiver. That receiver in the head/earphone also has a sleep mode, that it shuts off when it doesn't receive a BT transmission, to prolong its battery life.

The receiver only kicks in its BT receiver for a very brief time to check for a transmission and does that using long intervals, or you could switch the receiver off and then on again to activate it but will go inte sleep mode again after a while if not receiving any signal. The sleep time at both transmitter and receiver might make it unsuitable for scanner use if the scanner is silent too long between conversations. Different BT chips and firmware has different settings for the sleep function and it could take a while to find one that works fine for scanner use.

Thanks Randy for the Trond suggestion and the warning about the Hagibis. Hagibis doesn't show any technical data but the Trond show both chip type and BT protocol version.

The Hagibis goes into standby in like under 15 seconds...
My other units are in the range of like 3 to 4 min, and kick back on alot faster from standby...

I wish they would add a setting to turn the standby mode off (Always On) on these devices...
But for what most people use them for (Music etc) it's not a problem for that...

There might be a service mode in them, by grounding a pin somewhere, to make the transmitter permanent on for test purposes. If a service schematic are available it should show if there's some sort of permant transmitter key on available.

I use a bluetooth dongle made by TaoTronics I got off Amazon years ago. Never goes into standby. I leave it plugged into a power source 24/7 and it stays connected so long as my headphones or bt speaker have power. Works perfect!

Do you have a model number for it? Amazon shows a bluetooth version 5.0 but I believe that those where only available just recently. TaoTronic 5.0

I looked on Amazon for it and could only find one that looks just like it by the same company. It's called "upgraded version TaoTronics bluetooth transmitter" and the model is TT-BA01 It is $18USD. Hope that helps! The device I have only has a serial number on it and the original box for it is in my storage unit. It looks just like the one mentioned except the white logo on mine is orange. TT-BA01 Amazon
