The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey! So today i purchased an APX4000, but... I don't have a programming cable, it has Bluetooth capabilities, and the Emergency button is set to BT On/Off. but there is not a menu option at this moment:( . Is there a way to program it via BT with just the Soft key and software?

If my memory serves me, you create a personal area network with the BT on the programming machine , then you connect the radio to that network. It’s been about 4 years since I’ve done it but there may be other menus items that must be enabled on the radio to get more options first that I can not remember.

You may find it easier to just get a cable first for initial programming, and use BT later for quick touch ups.

Just turning the BT on and off doesn't give you the ability to make it initially visible and know if it's programmed to just LF MPP BT type only.

You usually need to do initial programming with cable as the Bluetooth is default to Motorola touch pairing only.

Cable can be had cheap on ebay.. either oem or bluemaxers49.

As other have said initial programming must be done with a cable. Before you do your initial programming under Radio Wide scroll down to Bluetooth and change the pairing type to LFMPP & STANDARD and have BT as a menu item. After your initial programming pair the radio with your computers Bluetooth and make sure you change communication method to Bluetooth in apx cps and program away.
