I noticed that the BOA TRS data was updated this week and am wondering if it is correct.
Programmed the system into the 396 with the Panthers in town tonight.
The two control channels are not giving the usual chainsaw sound, instead:
853.16250 854.21250
sound like control channels. However, I have heard nothing.
Used the 396 in Motorola control channel only search mode and it would not detect a system at all.
Then held on what sounds like one of the control channels and the 396 will usually display the SysID. But, got nothing.
Can anyone confirm if the BOA Stadium data is correct?
Thanks

David,

I can confirm that 855.3375 has been an active control channel in the uptown Charlotte area in the past ... with the system I-D of 6B3F. I last logged it in Feb of 2004, sitting just down Morehead Street at Time Warner.

I might also presume someone had some "close-encounter" contact with a radio being used at the stadium to be able to identify the make and model, as well as some of the channel plan.

But, the frequencies being cited just do not make sense.

First, there appears to be no trunked system actually licensed to the stadium or its events management company, Carolina Stadiums. The management company does hold licenses for three conventional 800 MHz channels, but one is in S.C., and the other two are listed among the TRUNKED frequencies on RR.

Here's some background on the frequencies listed on RR for the stadium:

CONVENTIONAL FREQUENCIES -

chan 1 / 855.8625 ... no one licensed in Mecklenberg Co area

chan 2 / 852.2375 ... licensed as part of the CMPD trunked system, but used by Nextel in the surrounding area

chan 3 / 852.8625 ... licensed as part of the CMPD trunked system

chan 4 / 853.4875 ... licensed to Nextel in Mecklenberg Co

chan 5 / 852.4875 ... licensed to Nextel in Mecklenberg Co

chan 14 / 854.9125 ... licensed to South Sales, a two-way radio equipment and airtime business (handles Motorola and Kenwood)

TRUNKED FREQUENCIES -

853.1625 ... licensed as part of the CMPD trunked system, but used by Nextel in parts of Mecklenberg County and the surrounding area

854.2125 ... licensed as part of the CMPD trunked system, but used by Nextel in parts of Mecklenberg County and the surrounding area

855.3375 ... licensed to Carolina Stadiums as a conventional channel

855.5875 ... no licenses in Mecklenberg Co, but is licensed to Nextel and another licensee in Cabarrus Co

856.3875 ... licensed to Carolina Stadiums as a conventional channel

858.3875 ... no licenses in Mecklenberg Co

Any chance that the data signal you heard on 853.1625 and 854.2125 was Nextel iDEN, rather than a control channel ?

"Brian," the owner of the Palmetto_800 list on Yahoogroups, made the most-recent changes to the RR information for BOA Stadium.

I don't know what frequency information was listed prior to the changes, but you might want to contact Brian directly to find out if the frequency info is "old" information (Brian might be monitoring the NC Forums).

Jeff,
The data signals may very well be Iden data rather than Moto control channel, because the 396 has done very well in decoding SysId's out of the data stream and it got nothing out of this data.
Will PM Brian.
Thanks

Correct BOA data

What the heck, wife is out of town and not much on the agenda.
Took a ride down town and threw the 396 into 849-868 Mhz Control Channel Search. (This is one of the finest features of this multi-featured scanner.)
The correct control channel frequency for BOA Stadium is:
856.3875
Call sign is WPJG293.
Re-programmed as control only and will see what I get next game. (The system was silent today, guess they do all the post-game clean up same night).
Will have to take a ride to monitor, can't get the control channel here at the house in Indian Trail.

David,
Please submit any more updated info on this system and I will make sure it gets updated/corrected in the database :)
