I didn't hear about this bomb scare on the scanner, but I did hear Sac PD looking for a body in the river this morning near the new railroad bridge. I was surprised to not see anything about it.

Can you tell us if there is a tac channel for this incident and what it is? Thanks

CHP would only tell us the location and that Hwy 50 was closed. As of the time I left work (1:30) we did not have a camera (to much election stuff) to send but looking at the Rancho sky camera and CalTrans traffic cams the freeway was moving fine.

It ended up being an old raft, we had the chopper over it for the Noon show but didn't go on TV because it was not a body. They did go check on a tip that Sac PD was digging for a body in a back yard in S. Sac and we found it but they were just starting to dig, should have more on what they found tonight when KCRA 3 reports at 5pm.

Edit: wow, did I just write a tease, we have people at work that get paid for doing that :)

Traffic sensor causes scare; Folsom road briefly closed

The California Highway Patrol shut down the Prairie City Road overpass in Folsom for about an hour Wednesday while officers investigated what was reported as a suspicious object in the roadway.

The object turned out to be a traffic sensor device taped to the guardrail, officials said.

The incident started about 11:20 a.m. and drew a response from at least a half dozen CHP officers along with Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies, Folsom Police Department officers and units from at least two firefighting agencies. Traffic on the overpass was halted in both directions. Access to the Prairie City Road off ramp was blocked but traffic on Highway 50 was not affected.

Police call off search for body

Sacramento police have called off their search for a dead body in the backyard of an Avondale home after finding "nothing suspicious or anything indicative of a crime scene," according to a department spokesman.

Sacramento police Sgt. Matt Young said a "very general" tip came in Tuesday that a body was in the backyard of the house on the 5800 block of Wilkinson Street, but the tipster did not say how the body had gotten there or who the person was.

On Tuesday night, police brought in a cadaver dog, which picked up a scent. Crime scene officers and homicide detectives scoured the yard for several hours before calling off the search Wednesday afternoon.

From the Bee article, only Prarie City was closed. That would explain why the freeway was flowing normally.

A lady reported finding a human skull in her back yard.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- An investigation is under way after a woman said she found bones in her back yard.

The woman said she found smaller bones in her back yard at 3324 L St. a few days ago, and then larger ones on Wednesday, authorities said.

Ten 6-inch bones were found in the back yard, authorities said.

It is unknown whether the bones are from an animal or a human.

The Sacramento County Coroner is working on the case.
