So there other day as I was driving back to Civilized Fannin Co. from NE of Telephone I was mowed down by a mail stagecoach, a few Indians on horseback and a few blue coats who didn't know the civil war was over yet.
The Bonham Police Departments radio traffic as been dwindling recently, in part because they have a new CAD system. And unlike the Trenton PD's computers, these are real, Police quality Tough books. Which the officer can see all calls holding, what other officers are assigned to and can even chat. Now Bonham PD (Each and every officer) will have to take the T-LETS class before they can run 27, 29 and 43 info. But the class is scheduled for the first of the year. I'm working with Bonham PD Brass to get authorized photos and will slap them on my Blog when I get it.
Side note: Bonham PD use Kenwood radio's in the car and on the hip. Bonham uses the Digital as a Patrol-2 channel but when the CAD becomes fully operational next year, have plans to become full time Digital and may be adding a second repeater for CID, TAC & Narcotics use.
I am working with the Sheriff's office currently to Add some LEGIT FCC radio licenses and encrypting some of the TAC channels in use now. FCSO Digital Dispatch will remain in the clear and the Analog side will run full time encryption. FCSO-6 has plans to become the CERT channel when new FCC issued Tactical channels are licensed up. Most of this will have 3rd. quarter 2011 and first quarter 2012. The Sheriff's office in 2012 also will be working to establish a 2 site simulcast system just like Fannin Co. fire now has.
Just an update for those who monitor Fannin Co.
