There are a bunch of rumors, some with some teeth to them, that the transition happens Sunday morning. However none of this is actually officially confirmed.

If it happens, it will likely be after next year's Mayoral election in Boston. Whether they go to P25 clear in the interim is a different matter entirely.

Rumor is it got pushed off, again - when it happens, it will happen and we will find out by OTA monitoring

Once elected, about the only way a Mayor in Boston leaves office is by resigning or dying. John Collins declined to run for re election, Kevin White resigned, Ray Flynn resigned to become an ambassador, Tom Menino didn't run for re election because he had a terminal disease, Marty Walsh resigned to become Sec. of Labor.

Hopefully Boston get a new mayor. One who doesn't want encryption.

Menino would have held that office for 100 years if he didn't end up with health issues.

Ray Flynn would have held it for as long if he hadn't gone to the Vatican.
Marty Walsh could have held it as long as he wanted if he hadn't gone to Washington.
Kevin White allegedly gave it up in exchange for not being indicted, but there was never any proof of that.

The Mayor of Boston has the entire mechanism of the city at his or her disposal and always has a political machine in place.

Term limits could help put an end to that. Now, how do we convince politicians to vote to limit their own power 🤔

Preaching to the choir. Boston born and raised and have lived under the blatant political corruption for decades.
