Bought a bunch of Hytera PD502I and PD502.

I recently bought a box of Hytera radios. Some of them can talk to each other and some can't communicate at all. I was hoping to use these for camping for a big family reunion my family is planning next year.


I've spent a few hours trying to figure it out, but could someone be able to confirm? I need to buy a software cable and then get a program that allows me to make all the radios talk to each other?


I'm guessing there isn't a way to put them all on the same frequency together without this cable and software?

Not sure what country you are located in, but in the USA, you will need an FCC issued license to use these radios. The FCC license will tell you which frequency/frequencies you can utilize.

Buying used radios mean they were likely already programmed to use someone elses frequencies that you are not licensed for, and may cause interference to them.

So, before you spend money on software/programming cable, get the licensing stuff sorted out first.

Then, you will need the software and cables to program to be in compliance with your license.

These are UHF radios, but I'm unsure of the bandsplit. You can Google that from the model number.

If you're in the USA, consider getting a GMRS license. The allocated frequencies are in the 462/467 MHz range. A license is valid for your immediate family.
