I love listening to AM RADIO and for the last several months HARDILY ANYTHING BELOW .900Mhz OR SO IS COMING IN LIKE IT USED TO!

650 - WSM -- NOT THERE.. Or if they are THEY ARE QUITE WEAK!
750 - WSB -- NOT THERE -- If they are quite weak
890 - WLS - Weak if there @ all

Several others also but mostly below 900 seems to be affected..

THESE STATIONS USED TO BOMB IN EVERY NIGHT!!!

Is something going on to try and block all communications??

It's called "propagation" :)

Propagation on MW isn't as good in the summer as it is in the winter months. Also due to the increase of thunderstorms during the summer months, MW is much more prone to static crashes from distant lightening.

To better understand propagation characteristics on HF and MW, check out this site below. the AM broadcast band is directly below the 160 Meter Amateur Band, so it shares many of the same propagation characteristics.
HF BANDS - WHAT TO EXPECT - ALL ABOUT OUR HF BANDS

You may also might want to check out your antenna system and be sure the antenna and feed line are in good shape.

I was at the NC coast three weeks ago. As usual, lying on the beach under the shade listening to my radios. I noticed around noonish or shortly after several AM stations were coming in with good signal. They were all from the northeast. Mostly New York. WABC being one of them. I do not recall this phenomenon happening before. Is the crazy sun so weak that the D layer is not ionizing fully? Or was it just maybe a salt water path?

It's been my experience (at least here in my area, the NW US) that the high AM band has DX propagation before the low AM band has DX propagation, whether during summer or winter months. And sometimes there will be decent conditions on the higher AM band when frequencies below 900 or so are still mediocre.

DX propagation seems to go from the high end to the low end of the band. I've also read that in an article on MW propagation somewhere on the net, but can't seem to remember or find the link....
