While programming a custom search limit for the AM broadcast. I would like too get our local as well as shortwave while in custom search mode for AM broadcast. I can't even pick up our local AM broadcast, only some of the shortwave stuff faintly, even with the set bar antenna on. Or unless i tune it manually onto a frequency with the stroll knob for AM local, different antenna's won't improve it much. But strangely it works flawlessly in service search mode for our local AM broadcast with the set bar on or off . This is what I'd program in custom search 0.100-22.000mhz Step (auto) Modulation (auto) delay 2 sec, no attenuator, no data skip, c-channels off. Anybody else see this happening.

Thanks,
Greg--

Glad you figured that out! I was about to post that you may have it screened.

I just got a BCD396T and getting local AM broadcasts (news, talk, crappy-sounding music) is on my list to figure out.

I wondered if it can even pick it up without a ferrite bar ant.

Any pointers, or is it pretty much the same steps that you described for the BR330T?

The frequency coverage on the 396 won't go low enough to get AM broadcast band. It's lowest frequency limit is 25mhz, just below the CB channels.

You can get FM broadcast band, and audio from many of the tv channels.

The BCD396T does not cover the AM broadcast band. However, you can cover FM broadcast and some TV broadcast frequencies. Additionally, you can search the 450 MHz range for media frequencies. Here in the SF Bay Area I listen to the traffic reporters talking to their stations during my commute.
