I am looking for someone in the south bay of the San Francisco Bay area who can help me set up the software on a laptop to download frequencies into the scanner. I have already loaded into the scanner quite a few frequencies but would like to learn how to do this more easily from the laptop.

Here's a list of software that is easy to install, and easy to use: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BR330T#Software
BcTool & FreeScan are free, and are recommended by many. I happen to like ARC330-Basic & ARC330-PRO
but all 3 will work with this web site database. With each one, you can select frequencies and systems in the SF area to down load into the software. Then you just send that info to the scanner. It is really fairly straight forward. You do have to become a subscriber to this site to use the auto download function, but it is well worth it. That way, you don't have to depend on someone coming over each time to help you when you want to make a change. In most cases, the auto download will set up all the trunking para's and TGID's, which is a major help.

No matter what you chose, you will need a serial to USB converter from Uniden http://tinyurl.com/2cqyu4 or Radio Shack: http://tinyurl.com/2gpbsp . Another source is http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10311&cs_id=1031104&p_id=2276&seq=1&format=2, for quite a bit less. It is reported to work.
