Just checked mine as well, same for the most bottom line it is brighter. Maybe just the way designed? I notice the most bottom part is where usually the hold keys are so maybe supposed to be brighter? Either way, with the way my display is setup, not really bothering me and also my display only lights up at the start of a open channel, not kept on so didn't really notice until this topic was brought up.

The SDS200 keypad back-lighting has a similar problem, uneven lighting. With Uniden these days it's considered the new norm.

I miss the days when Paul (UPMan) Opitz managed things and actually listened to us and responded with solutions rather than making excuses!

No offense @JoeBearcat, I understand none of this is your fault. We appreciate your efforts. I'm don't mean to criticize you personally, but Uniden as a corporation.

My SDS200 does not have this issue, everything is lit evenly, as were my first 2 SDS-100's were fine

Yesterday my sds100 seemed to even itself out, today it's brighter in the lower right corner again. seems this is the new norm with these unidens. as long as the cosmetics don't affect operation or reception i'm okay with that.

I recently acquired an SDS100 that has the same display fade. It's a 2021 production unit that has been sent back
for repair.

I have the same issue with my display on the SDS100; bottom row is brighter than the rest of the display. Thought about send it in...again. I usually use the unit with the display turned off since I have it connected to ProScan and don't take it off the desk often.

I sent a SDS100 in with a broken knob to repaired with a perfect LCD. I just received it back a few days ago and the knob is fixed but the LCD has the fade.So I wonder if they are replacing the main board instead of just component level repairs.

On a positive note, this repair was done in less than 2 weeks! That’s including shipping .

Just got mine today and it’s doing the same thing. Ordered a new one and sending this one back to BW…

Uniden needs to get their S@&T together.

I have reported this issue to HQ. Sometimes a solution requires more than a reply (sometimes there is no field fix).

Yes, but that can be disabled in the settings.
Hey Joe my name is Glenn. Thank you for the response and not lashing at me. People think I’m nuts. I showed the sds100 to my 78 y/o mom and I said what’s wrong with this screen and she said it’s brighter on the bottom than the top.

I sold my sds100 that had the display issue and bought another one, the new one doesn't have the issue (yet). This makes my 4th sds100. I rarely listen to the 100's now that i have the 200's on the desk. the other day I noticed one of the sds100's that's been sitting for a few months has a swollen battery. what's the best way to resolve that @JoeBearcat ?

Uniden should be ashamed of themselves allowing this product to keep being sold. It’s an obvious issue for a lot of people and it needs to be addressed and fixed.

I would get the sds200 but I need to portability option. I don’t know of another scanner that is like this one……except the display issue.

Contact Customer Service. The backlight issue is actually just a slight misalignment of the LCD display from what I am told.

I had a cellphone with the same issue, and that is one that is much more prevalent. And that was from a much larger company. Fact is there are few if any companies that have flawless Lithium track records. The battery manufacturers are still learning. (and Uniden is not a battery manufacturer)

If everyone went by that standard, nothing would ever be sold. It's not a systemic issue since relatively few units have the issue.

Just returned mine and ordered another one today (6th unit). Joe why do they keep selling it and fix the problem?

I’ve had 5 already with the same issue.

Joe look at the BBB website and this forum along with Facebook forums. There are more than a few units having this issue.

From the same dealer?
No sir. Today was my 3rd dealer. I’ll have it tomorrow.

From the same dealer?
I was told that all the dealer get from the same distributor.
