I live in Waco and have been trying to monitor the Brazos River Authority. There are only four frequencies for Waco, which I’m gonna assume are 2 TX and 2 RX frequencies because they are +5 of each other but so far it’s been dead air… Anyone ever had any luck monitoring them, in Waco or anywhere in Texas? I’m mainly just curious what, if anything, they talk about over radios.

All I know is from when I lived in Mineral Wells about 10 years ago. I don't know if anything in the db is current for Palo Pinto and Hood counties now.

Years ago BRA had VHF repeaters on the same frequency pair (155.04/158.88) at Possum Kingdom and Granbury.
The PK one went P25. I don't know about the Granbury one. The db still shows it as analog. Both locations also had the same UHF freqeuncy (451.775) that was licensed for fixed stations with AFSK data emission designators (F2D). I don't know what it was used for and never heard anything on it.

PK used to have BRA Lake Rangers that were active on the VHF repeater but if I remember right they mostly used the SO repeater. If I remember right they were disbanded because it was too expensive and Palo Pinto County and TPWD took over policing the lake.

Yeah, I think it only lists 4 frequencies total for Waco/McLennan Co., but from what I can tell none of these are a repeater (though they may be linked to one). I’m about 3-4 miles from the river where I live— but of course the Brazos River itself is HUGE so that’s not saying much as far as being able to hit them on simplex.

When visiting close friends that live in Stephens County, occasionally I do hear activity on the BRA frequency in Palo Pinto County, using the digital mode. But as Tom noted, you'll hear more lake units on the county S.O. channel.

Even though they are licensed for the same frequency in Hood County, I don't remember hearing any activity that would have been around Lake Grandbury, neither digital nor analog. (But I might be out of range for that.) I don't see any BRA licenses for the Lake Whitney area, at least not under their name.

While I certainly thank both of y’all for the advice and pointers, I live in Waco (McLennan County) and none of those counties are near me.
