• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Since bridgecom is more of a amateur radio thing I’m hoping this is the right place. I have one of the interesting repeaters the front of the unit has the Relm radio decal but the rear label is bridgecom the model is BCR-40U/B I assume “B” is the 450-512mhz and I’m guessing “A” is possibly the 400-470mhz version? When I bought the unit there was a default channel named “SHOP” frequency was tx462.600/rx467.600 power was set to 545 never really tested the unit because I didn’t have a duplexer tuned at the time. A year or so later I eventually threw the repeater in a rack with a different channel on GMRS to test it out my buddy repurposed his repeater so he let me use his antenna and hook up to the TX combiner. Everything worked fine until I got to the bottom of the hill I couldn’t key up the repeater but I chocked it up as the hills but it wasn’t the case. I took the repeater home had a duplexer tuned and tested at the house and worked until I got about 200 feet away I wasn’t able to key up the repeater almost like it was deaf. I started looking at the settings for the squelch and ect.. I have not changed anything but would like to compare them to another BCR-40U if someone would be willing to help me with that I would really appreciate it. This is a great little repeater from the looks and what I’ve herd but I haven’t yet seen the performance it’s claimed to produce

You're going to need to check the repeater with a service monitor or spectrum analyzer with tracking generator for receive sensitivity. If it checks out ok then place the duplexer inline and repeat the test. I'd also want to test it on site thru the combiner and duplexer to eliminate all possibilities. Test sweep all/any of your patch cables and feed line also. If other stations are operating correctly thru the combiner and associated feed line and antenna you could probably eliminate those items from the problem list. I'd still check it anyway because I'm nutty that way.

Mine came from TA Radio Communications in Melbourne Florida I was told the tech bench tested in for a few days and working I've also sent it back to get checked and I still have the issue. I don't hold anything against the shop I had amazing customer service from them I feel it's more of an equipment issue. Someone recently gave me a early model and it works fine except it will not pass audio, I even swapped around the TX and RX radio with no luck
