I am hearing Bristol fire on Barrington fire RISCON ID 1712 I don't know if Bristol is sharing the talk group with Barrington or if there is some kind of mistake

Oh BTW Nascar18 I have both the Uniden sds200 and sds100 and they are awesome on the RISCON system I hear all 4 zones perfectly Crystal clear
Crystal, try the sds 100 near Bed Bath Beyond some day. Very difficult area for 800 mhz listening. Could never receive MSP or Riscon in that area!!

I live close to the Showcase cinema in Seekonk and I can't get a good signal from MSP it is all static I'm not sure where the tower is located And to answer your question I learned all about scanner from my Dad he was on the East Providence fire department before he retired He tought me how to use the Sentinel software to program my scanners
Wow, that's interesting. The MSP tower is located in Rehoboth. Not sure why you would get static on that system. I know the sds 200 has a lot of extra filtering you can try. Do you have an external antenna, that would make a difference.

Barrington is primarily on North, however has been heard on East, that may have been when a unit affiliated to that Zone

The area where the poor signal report comes is pretty much how it's always been there. I used to work nearby there and MSP has never been very clear there. Between a lot of RF, and some terrain shielding it's just not a good location for MSP unfortunately. Nascar18 will remember, he handed off a scanner to me in a parking lot there many, many years ago.

Bristol FD is still VHF primary but they do use RISCON for mutual aid.
All of the TG's for Barrington FD and PD are dual zone. They work on the East and North Zones. This provides better coverage across the town. There are multiple cities and town that have dual zone authorization for their TG's.

MSP operate on a Motorola type 2 smart zone system not P25 trunk I don't know if that makes a difference but I never got a good signal also Rehoboth PD are also on MSP system and I have trouble hearing them too
Per a brand-new entry just entered into the Scan New England Wiki last evening (07-03-2022), Bristol Fire is on RISCON talk group 1744. It also lists that 1744 talk group as being in the clear and being primarily heard on the East zone.
