Ok, I had to recall what the node statuses mean on a talkgroup. If I remember correctly: Current = Uploading, Current [A] = alternate, Current [NC] = not considered

So it's approximately 14:44 right now, and looking at what I know my Node claims to be uploading, I'm seeing odd things:

7-10 minutes old last seen, no node listed

2ish minutes old last seen, no node listed
1741895327792.png

3 nodes uploading, least skew is not considered

A stale, even though it's used for other TGs

A not considered and an alternate, no plain current, but heard now

My questions may be more of a discussion. What is determining which node is uploading and which node is Alternate/Not Considered. What does "Stale" mean? Why are no nodes noted on "current" last seen talkgroups? How can I improve the stability of my node?

Hardware: Windows10, Xenon processor, 16GB ram, Only running STRTrunk and 2 instances of proscan.

You are remembering it backwards. Current [A] is the node that is currently doing the uploading for that particular talkgroup, not an alternate. NC does indeed mean not considered.

What is determining which node is uploading and which node is Alternate/Not Considered.
From my observations, the skew is a big part of it, but I do not think that is the sole aspect that is considered when determining which node is selected. I say this because I run two nodes on the same system, and one TG of interest is consistently received by both nodes making it a good source of comparison. Generally, the node with the lower skew is selected as the current node, but sometimes the other gets picked. I am not sure exactly what causes this behavior, however. I need to pay closer attention when I notice this happen the next time.

7-10 minutes old last seen, no node listed
I had never paid attention to this previously, but it looks like the nodes are only listed for TGs that were active in the past 5 minutes. At least that is how it appears on a statewide system I just checked.

Here is some insight from the man himself (Lindsay):
[A] = assigned
[NC] - not considered.

Before a node provider sees "not considered" and get's completely offended that we're not considering their node, please note that this means that the node is "newer on the scene" and we're not YET considering it. It's gotta get some better history.
Current with no “NC” means that the node is “good” and would be considered if the currently active node goes stale.

removing means that node has gone stale and it’s about to be removed from the current node list

When no node is listed, that means that the node assignment table expired because there hasn't been a call received for that talkgroup in the past 300 seconds (5 minutes). The ranking process starts all over at that point.
