Brown and Preble County MARCS

For a couple days next week I'll be at Hueston Woods State Park and Lodge near the Brown/Preble County line.

What are a few of the best MARCS talk groups to listen to for Law, Fire, EMS or other services in that area? It looks like Preble County is not encrypted, but much of Butler County is. Preble County has fewer talk groups to choose from, but Butler County has many.

Also, I have a Unication G5, so the Butler County Simulcast should not be a problem for me.

I would just program everything to do with PD/FIRE/INTEROP/Emergency Ops, etc.

OK, little confused here....
Brown and Preble Counties (in Ohio at least) are no where near sharing a County line together....

Since you mentioned Hueston Woods State Park; I'll go that direction....
You will need to program in the Butler County simulcast site on the G5 with the non-encrypted channels for either Butler County Law dispatches, Oxford, Oxford Twp and Preble County Leo and Fire...

If you are monitoring Butler CO, Oxford, Oxford Twp stuff - shouldn't be an issue...
If monitoring Preble Leo and Fire - your G5 will may give "spotty" monitoring situations...

Kind of what I figured...

Just to make sure .... you will hear PCSO and FD on the Butler Co simulcast side; using their TG's, along with the Butler County stuff...

While you are there... try doing a "search" through the 151 mhz range (with your TRX-1) to see if you get any VHF park traffic....
You may, or may not.... I am seeing the Park staff chatting more across the MARCS Maintenance, etc TG these days....
