Well I know that most of the LE traffic on SAFE-T in Hendricks County is now encrypted, but there was still some stuff to hear tonight on the Brownsburg PD backup repeater as well as the Brownsburg Public Works repeater. If you're still "jonesing" for your local LEO traffic, make sure the backup repeaters and the public works stuff is in a bank somewhere. It wasn't a lot, but I could follow some of what was going on.

Happy Forth of July, fellow Hoosiers!

I noticed a few days ago that BPD had their mobile command center set up at Arbuckle Park. Adjacent to it was a tent that appeared to be set up for BFT medics to use for on-site medical attention. I suspect that BPD officers on foot, on bicycle, and in Gators were using handheld radios which may have been difficult to hear from a distance.

BPW was probably involved with setting up and tearing down barricades inside and outside the park.

I'm about 2 miles away from the park, but was too lazy to monitor either agency. ;) I'm about the same distance from where they launched the fireworks. Pretty good view from my driveway for all but the altitude-challenged fireworks. The parks department charged $15/car for parking close to the launch site. I thought that was pretty cheeky.

Yeah I agree, that's nuts.

These are taxpayer funded entities and facilities. They shouldn't be operated for-profit.

One of the BBG PD units has a radio that sounds like it's a bit off frequency. The DPW traffic could well be DPW, but I heard someone complain about a wrong way driver on there earlier.

I brought my BC125AT but forget to put Brownsburg PD's VHF repeater in it. I did hear traffic on the DPW repeater and the two fire paging frequencies. Also caught some MURS traffic on 151.880.

Are the backup repeaters on VHF?
Brownsburg PD still has their VHF repeater (155.535 out, 154.650 in). BPD officers use it regularly as a dispatcher-less "tac" channel.

Brownsburg DPW's repeater is on UHF (453.700 out, 458.700 in). It's used almost daily by street maintenance personnel and other BPW employees.
