I know that law enforcement is now using the SmartLink LTR system. I just bought a Radioshak PRO-97 and I am still new to using it. I have gotten some local LE and SHP frequencies off of this website and do I enter them as a Motorola, LTR, or EDACS? Anyone who lives in Brunswick County and would like to give me some advice to frequencies and how to properly opperate this scanner to full potential would be greatly appreciated.

the new system is a LTR system so you will need to in fact program as a ltr for the uhf system and the vhf system. how ever from my understanding from my fire chief is that u should only program the tower in your area for exampl mine will be the suppl towers for leo and fire rescue. also the shp channels the low ands that is should be programed regular, but the viper system if you have programed that should be programmed in motorola set up.

So, the new LE freq. should be entered as LTR, Fire will end up doing the same. The state freq. should be entered as Motorola?

The SHP Lo-band will be entered as FM or CT (with the tone of 173.8) The VIPER system will be programmed as MOT, and the new fire/EMS & LE stuff will be LTR.

It's good to program the tone with the SHP Lo-band, as I used to get Missouri Highway Patrol covering up E-town when I lived in Sunset Beach :)

Aircraft is AM< everything else would be FM (although some are programmed as MOT, LTR, etc)
