Hello, I have a friend who is and has been listening to the Lincoln County portion of the MISWIN. he is using a Whistler handheld scanner with a short antenna. Is this system simulcast? If so, we know what the issue may be if not, what scanner would you recommend him trying to purchase for this system and monitoring LINCOLN county Mississippi? I know the SDS 100 would do it but that’s kind of expensive. Is there another SCANNER that would do the same job in the unit in sCANNER portfolio thanks.

I don't think they are simulcast. I have a SDS200 and BCD536HP which receive them well. There is probably a cheaper scanner than that will do the job though.
To my knowledge, Lincoln County is not simulcast. What issues are you experiencing? What Whistler scanner are you using? (is it capable of decoding phase 2?) What antenna?

Nothing in the RR db listing or license information indicates simulcast. The towers shown on the map are the two Lincoln County sites - #1: Brookhaven East and #2: Brookhaven West. Each site has a single tower. The sites do not share the same frequencies. This is not simulcast. (This is a common configuration in MS)

What model Whistler handheld? Talkgroups in Lincoln County are all TDMA (mode "T") so unless it's one of these then your friend won't be able to track it: WS1080, WS1088, TRX-1
Can you describe said issue?
MSWIN is a P25 Phase II system. All indications are that the Lincoln County sites are not simulcast.
Here is a list of scanners that can decode P25 Phase II systems.

Weird. I monitor MSWIN daily with TRX-1s and haven't had any issues.

but first you need the frequencies.
then you program the talkgroups you want.
and we were talking about simulcast, i could not find the frequencies for the towers as that would then really tell me if the problem was simulcast.
