The sheriff’s department, EMS and county fire will all eventually be on a new county P25 system. Right now they are all patched with the SIRN talkgroups.

That's interesting. They reused UHF frequencies already in use by the city of Huntington and Cabell County. Good call on that, seeing that SIRN has locked up just about every UHF frequency in the band for their statewide trunking system. My gut (and experience) tells me they may need to add a site in West Huntington. Lots of spotty coverage there for portable radios.

Obviously WSIK813 is a trunked license. But I guess that doesn' t necessarily mean that they are using the frequencies on a P25 trunked system. I guess they could just be using conventional P25 repeaters (as shown in the database) with each conventional frequency being simulcast (transmitting from all sites at once).

But i'd really lean toward it being an actual trunked system. Idon't know who submitted the conventional P25 frequencies, but somebody with DSDPlus in Cabell Co should consider firing up DSDPlus and hten navigating to EACH of the frequencies on the license to see if there is an actual P25 control channel on the air indicating an actual trunked system rather than a conventional P25 system.

ALTHOUGH, the way the article describes things, what is in the DB makes sense. P25 frequencies for the police/fire/ems dispatch and then the analog frequencies listed below it in the DB being the fireground (or on-scene) communications.

For the record, I checked and no control channel. I was looking for information to update my feed. I think I need to make some adjustments still. Well, I think the Pro-197 is main issue. It's getting a bit long in the tooth😆.

The other thing I was trying to figure out, they said it expanded to 5 Tower sites. Only three P25P1 sites exist in the county at the moment to my knowledge. I know they erected a new tower in Barboursville park, I just wonder if that's one of the new P25 simulcast sites. That's more a personal side quest on my part.

Your 197 may have issues with the fact that the various P25 frequencies are simulcast from multiple tower sites, and thus you might experience the dreaded distortion on a scanner that isn't capable of reliably copying CQPSK/LSM.

Tower sites are listed on the license

Correct, the new tower in Barboursville is one of them, as well as a tower in Culloden off of Benedict Road.

The license page shows where the five towers are supposed to be: FCC Callsign WSIK813 (CABELL, COUNTY OF)
