By Honey Brook Fire Company October 10, 2010 At 1354 hours the Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched for an ambulance to assist Lancaster Station 3-4 (Caernarvon) for a barn fire in the 100 block of Boot Jack Road in Caernarvon Township, Lancaster County. At 1403 hours, Station 33 was dispatched for an Engine and Pumper/Tanker to assist; Engine 33-5 and Engine 33-1 made the response with 12 volunteers.
Crews arrived to find a two story barn with the second floor full of hay with the roof collapsed onto the hay. A great stop was made by Station 3-4, Station 3-6 (Goodville), and Station 69 (Twin Valley) members from keeping the fire from spreading. Crews spent the next several hours cutting the tin roof off and emptying the still smoldering hay out of the second floor.
Engine 33-1 and Engine 33-5 cleared at 1650 hours; Ambulance 33-2 cleared approximately 1800 hours; Traffic 33 cleared at approximately at 1845 hours.
